It’s me, Emily.
I’m an illustrator eating peanut butter, walking to the park 128 times a week, watching reality TV with Ryan, and pointing at the moon with our daughters, Frankie and Ellie, in Southeast Michigan.
Throughout the entirety of my day job career, my work has centered on collaborating with folks to achieve a more equitable food system. What has that looked like? Living in a barn in Waco, Texas with composting toilets and goats galore, eating fresh veggies, and planning garden clubs / moving across the country to tend a school farm and teach food things to students at The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind / and it currently looks like writing website copy for small food and farm businesses in Michigan.
All of this informs my illustrative style. I like silly, thoughtful, earthy, whimsical themes and I hope to portray that in my art. I work with pens, markers, and often digitally (easier to tote around, less to clean up in a house with a toddler and wee babe!).
